This Is The Thing Imprint Zuckerberg Contemplates Apple’s Vision Master
In a meeting with Meta employees, Zuckerberg spoke about Apple’s headset and said, “could be the vision of the future of computing, but like, it’s not the one that I want.”
The introduction of the Vision Pro by Apple appears to have little effect on Mark Zuckerberg.
In a companywide meeting with Meta workers today that The Edge watched, the President said Apple’s gadget introduced no significant leap forwards in innovation that Meta hadn’t “proactively investigated” and that its vision for how individuals will utilize the gadget is “not my desired one.” He also mentioned that Meta’s upcoming Quest 3 headset will be much cheaper than the Vision Pro, which costs $3,499, allowing Meta to reach a wider audience.
When employees gathered at the company’s Menlo Park, California, headquarters for the first all-hands meeting since 2020, Zuckerberg stated, “I think that their announcement really showcases the difference in the values and the vision that our companies bring to this in a way that I think is really important.” Zuckerberg said that the Journey is about “individuals connecting in new ways and feeling nearer” while moreover “about being dynamic and getting things done.”
He commented on Apple’s WWDC keynote earlier this week, “By contrast, every demo that they showed was a person sitting on a couch alone.” That might be the computer industry’s vision for the future, but I don’t want it.
Meta was undoubtedly nervous prior to Apple’s announcement, even though Zuckerberg is now at peace. Even though the Quest 3 won’t be available for purchase until the fall, it made the announcement a few days earlier. Some investors are concerned because Meta has been investing billions of dollars annually to position itself as a leader in the virtual and augmented reality industry. The presentation of Apple’s headset denotes a significant serious danger.
Meta has made early progress in VR gaming and wellness, yet it’s battled attempting to arrive at the better quality and general figuring market that Apple is pursuing, with last year’s Mission Genius to a great extent being viewed as a lemon.

Apple at long last declared their headset, so I need to discuss that briefly. I was truly inquisitive to see what they planned to deliver. Also, I haven’t seen it yet, so I’ll learn more as we play with it and see how people use it and what happens.
From what I’ve seen at first, I’d say fortunately there’s no sort of enchanted arrangements that they have to any of the limitations on laws of physical science that our groups haven’t previously investigated and considered. They chose a display with a higher resolution, which, when combined with all of the technology they added to power it, increased its cost by seven times and now requires so much energy to operate that you need a battery and a wire attached to it. They made that design trade-off, which may make sense for the cases they want.
But, look, I think their announcement really shows how different our companies’ values and perspectives are, which I think is really important. One of our primary goals is to invent products that are as widely available and cost-effective as possible for everyone. Additionally, we have sold millions of Quests.
Moreover, our concept of presence and the metaverse is fundamentally social. It’s about new ways for people to interact and feel closer. Our device also encourages movement and activity. On the other hand, everyone in every demonstration they showed was sitting by themselves on a couch. That might be the computer industry’s vision for the future, but I don’t want it. We approach this from very different philosophical perspectives. Furthermore, seeing what they put out there and how they will contend just made me much more energized and in a ton of ways hopeful that what we’re doing matters and will succeed. However, it will be a fun journey.
